Stainless Steel Warm Edge Spacer Bar is a metal-based warm edge system component, distinct from traditional thick-wall aluminum spacers and butyl rubber composite warm edge spacers. The product is formed by U-bending ultra-thin stainless steel sheet, with an internal cavity for filling molecular sieve desiccant. During processing, butyl adhesive is applied to both sides to achieve the primary seal, working together with secondary sealant to complete the IGU sealing system. It effectively reduces the thermal bridge effect at the glass edge and minimizes the risk of edge condensation. Widely applicable to various architectural IGUs, it combines the structural strength of metal profiles with warm edge energy-saving performance.

Product Advantages
1. Warm edge energy-saving effect: Compared to traditional aluminum spacers, it significantly reduces edge heat transfer, weakens the cold bridge effect, and alleviates edge condensation and fogging.
2. Excellent corrosion resistance of stainless steel substrate: Resists corrosion during long-term outdoor use, effectively extending the overall service life of IGUs.
3. Thermal expansion coefficient close to glass: Reduces the risk of sealant layer cracking due to thermal movement.
4. High mechanical strength: Resists compression and deformation, suitable for automated IGU production lines.
5. Available in perforated and non-perforated versions to accommodate different processing preferences of glass manufacturers.

Applications
Primarily used in high-end building curtain wall IGUs for office buildings and commercial complexes.
Compatible with high-end thermal break aluminum doors and windows, villa residences, and double-glazed units in building energy retrofit projects.
Suitable for skylights and sunrooms where structural strength is required while addressing condensation issues.
Also applicable to rail transit and equipment observation window IGUs.
Note: For passive houses and ultra-low energy buildings, butyl rubber warm edge spacers are preferred, as this stainless steel warm edge spacer has higher thermal conductivity than polymer-based warm edge options.

Size Selection Guide

8A–12A Standard specification for residential double glazing, highest market demand.
14A–18A Suitable for high thermal insulation requirements and large cavity windows.
20A–24A Commonly used for large cavity curtain wall glass.

*When selecting, the spacer cavity width equals the IGU cavity width. Also verify compatibility with single-pane glass thickness.
All products supplied as fixed-length straight bars. Custom lengths can be cut per customer requirements.

Installation Instructions
Recommended processing environment temperature: 10–35°C; humidity should not be too high.
Glass bonding surfaces must be dry, dust-free, and oil-free to ensure reliable butyl adhesive adhesion.
The product is rigid straight bars. Do not bend by hand. Use dedicated IGU bending equipment for corner forming.
After bending and filling with molecular sieve, complete glass assembly promptly to prevent the desiccant from absorbing airborne moisture and losing effectiveness.
Apply butyl adhesive on both sides as the primary seal. Silicone sealant must be used as the secondary seal. Do not rely solely on the spacer bar for sealing.
Use sharp dedicated cutting tools to ensure clean cuts and prevent metal burrs from scratching glass or damaging the seal layer.

FAQ

Q: How to choose between perforated and non-perforated stainless steel warm edge spacers?

A: Both versions offer similar performance. The perforated version relies on small holes on the top surface for gas permeability, while the non-perforated version relies on side gaps. Choose based on your factory's existing processing practices.

Q: Can the stainless steel warm edge spacer be used for passive house projects?

A: It can be used, but its thermal conductivity is higher than that of butyl rubber polymer warm edge spacers. For ultra-low energy passive house projects, butyl rubber warm edge spacers are recommended as the preferred option.

Q: Can the stainless steel warm edge spacer be bent by hand or coiled like the butyl rubber warm edge spacer?

A: No. The stainless steel warm edge spacer is a rigid metal straight bar and cannot be coiled. Corner forming must be done using dedicated bending equipment. Hand bending will cause profile deformation and damage.

Q: Does the stainless steel warm edge spacer still require secondary sealant?

A: Yes, it is mandatory. The butyl adhesive on both sides serves only as the primary seal. It lacks sufficient UV resistance and structural strength, so silicone sealant must be applied as the secondary seal.
