Manufcturer Profile

Product Information

Material & Basic Properties

This hot melt butyl sealant is made from high-quality butyl rubber as the main polymer component, combined with tackifying resins, plasticizers, antioxidants and other functional additives through a homogeneous compounding process. It is a non-solvent, hot-applied sealing material, typically solid at room temperature and becomes fluid after heating in a butyl extruder or hot-melt applicator. The material shows excellent adhesion to glass surfaces, aluminum spacer bars, composite warm-edge spacers, plastic corner connectors and other common insulating glass components. Its main physical characteristics include low water-vapor transmission rate, good elasticity, strong creep resistance and long-term sealing stability under temperature variation

Available Types & Specifications

We supply multiple grades to meet different production and project requirements. The standard grade is suitable for conventional double-seal insulating glass production, providing balanced adhesion, fluidity and durability. The high-adhesion grade is recommended for projects involving composite warm-edge spacers, plastic components or special glass coating surfaces. The low-temperature-applying grade is designed for regions or production lines where lower extrusion temperature is preferred. Although specific technical data should be confirmed in the latest datasheet, typical available indicators cover application temperature around 110–150°C, density approximately 1.10–1.30 g/cm³, penetration in a suitable range for butyl sealant, and good compatibility with neutral silicone sealant, polysulfide sealant and common insulating glass accessories

Performance Advantages

Excellent water-vapor barrier performance: Low moisture transmission helps reduce the risk of edge penetration and internal fogging in insulating glass units

Strong and stable adhesion: Bonds well with glass, aluminum spacers and plastic parts, forming a continuous sealing layer along the IGU edge

Good elasticity and stress relaxation: Accommodates thermal expansion and contraction of glass and frame materials, reducing seal fatigue under temperature cycles

Long-term durability: Resists aging, UV exposure and humidity, helping extend the service life of finished insulating glass

Good processability: Suitable for automatic butyl extruders and manual application in standard insulating glass production lines

Application Scenarios

This product is mainly used as the primary sealant in double-seal insulating glass production. It is suitable for architectural insulating glass units, residential windows, commercial curtain walls, glass facades, sunrooms, refrigerated display windows and other glass components requiring reliable edge sealing. It can be used with aluminum spacers, composite warm-edge spacers, plastic corner connectors, molecular sieves and secondary sealants such as neutral silicone or polysulfid

Buyer FAQ

Q:1.What is the difference between hot melt butyl sealant and secondary sealant?

A:Hot melt butyl sealant is the primary sealant, mainly responsible for low water-vapor transmission and initial edge sealing. The secondary sealant, such as neutral silicone or polysulfide, provides structural adhesion and mechanical protection. They are normally used together in double-seal IGU production

Q:2.Can this product be used with composite warm-edge spacers?

A:Yes. We have grades suitable for composite warm-edge spacers. Please inform us of the spacer material and your production process so we can recommend the most suitable grade

Q:3.What application temperature is recommended?

A:The typical application temperature range is around 110–150°C, but the exact temperature should follow the product datasheet and equipment conditions. Overheating may affect adhesion, while too low temperature may cause poor flowability

Q:4.How should I store the product?

A:Store in a cool, dry indoor warehouse, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and chemical solvents. Keep packaging intact before use. Shelf life and storage conditions should refer to the latest product datasheet
