Guide To Selecting Warm-Edge Spacers For Insulating Glass

"Warm-edge spacers" for insulating glass units (IGUs)-which consist of two or more panes of glass-feature a specialized design. In traditional IGU construction, the glass panes are sealed together by a spacer frame; warm-edge spacers serve this sealing function while also providing thermal insulation. By reducing heat conduction, they help minimize condensation and frost formation near the edges of the glass. Materials such as PP+GF (polypropylene reinforced with glass fiber) or ABS+GF (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene reinforced with glass fiber) are commonly selected for these spacers.

 

Specialized materials for warm-edge spacers offer the following advantages:

1. High rigidity and hardness, enabling them to pass relevant pressure tests and ensuring safety during use;

2. Excellent weather resistance, allowing for long-term use without aging or deformation;

3. Suitability for extrusion processing, ensuring ease of manufacture and high efficiency;
